This is the Place

I think as far as outings go, this was the favorite of the trip. We visited This is the Place State Park. This place has come a long way over the last few years. They have really added a lot of activities and it was a great place to take the kids, the adults loved it as well.

The big request (starting weeks before we even left for Utah) was to go on the pony rides. We ended up monopolizing the ponies for quite some time.

Sarah makes me laugh every day. Sometimes it makes me sad when it is just her and I, and no one else is there to appreciate how hilarious she is. When we stopped at the blacksmith's shop he was talking to the kids about the fireplace and how "isn't this just like your fireplaces at home". Well, Sarah disagreed . . . "No, because our just turns on with a switch!"

They have a little home where they talk to you about chores that the pioneers performed. Michael and Sarah did some washing and hung it out to dry.

At the home they also have "toys" that the children could play with. I personally loved doing the stilts. I actually had stilts when I was a kid . . . and I have to say I was the best one there (even with a pregnant belly) . . . but Barbie has those pictures on her camera.

Michael loved rolling the hoop down the street, he actually was pretty great at it.

It was REALLY fun just to have so much family there. I miss hanging out with family a lot, so it was great to have them around to just be with.

The petting zoo was a big hit with Sars. Apparently she has adopted on of the lambs there. She followed one in particular around and had to yell at any other child that came close that "that is my lamb". When we left I had to tell here that she couldn't take the lamb home, but we could take a picture of it home . . . I am glad that was okay with her.

There are actually two trains at This is the Place. So, we got a lot of train riding in that day.

We actually took one train ride to get to the other train ride.

We also got to pan for gold. The kids loved it!!! They got to trade in their gold nuggets at the bank for a piece of candy.

It was an awesome day. We even ended with ice cream. What more can you ask for?
