The Year of the Dragon

At Emma's school they learn the Chinese language as one of their resources. So, the school has been very excited about getting ready for Chinese New Year. Emma participated in an art contest "The Mighty Dragon". She artistically designed and made a dragon. (Her dragon has a gold body, red face and blue eyes.)

Her piece was put on display at the local Barnes and Noble for the month of January. She ended up receiving a few prizes for her entry. She had lots of fun and did a great job.

At school, her class was selected (from all of the other classes at the school) to perform in a Chinese New Year Celebration. They learned a song and dance and performed it for the community.

At the Celebration night they also had a booth where you could dress up and take pictures.

They also had some other fun performances from community groups. Here is a dragon dance that some of the dad's of students participated in.

Then they let some of the kids dance with smaller dragons. Emma was so excited that she was chosen for that as well.

Zai jian.
