Soccer at the Y

This soccer season was pretty fun. First and Second grades play together, so we were lucky enough to get Michael and Emma on the same team. It also worked out that of the other seven teams, either Michael or Emma (or both) had really good friends on four of them. There was a lot of FRIENDLY competition.

Go team Everton!

Michael had a great season. He has really improved over the last two seasons. He is quite competitive, and has pretty quick footwork.

Emma loved playing on the team. She is always enthusiastic and has a great attitude. She scored her first GOOOOOOALLLLLLLL this season!

Today was the final day. They started today having only lost one game. Their first semifinal game was against the only team they have lost to. Thanks to Michael's big goal they won (1-0). After the game the coach awarded them their trophies.

We hung out at the field watching other games while we waited for the final game to start. It was a really tough game, both teams were very quick (but hot and tired). At halftime the score was still 0-0. As he went back in we dumped some water on Michel's head to help him cool down . . . as kids will do, the whole team soon had wet heads. (Kids are so fun!) I think that made all of the difference. They pulled off the win (1-0). They were awarded their 1st Place metals.

I loved that Michael and Emma got to play on the same team this year. I love any excuse to have the whole family up and outside on Saturday morning. I love sitting next to my husband and my friends and cheering on our kids. It was a great season!

I love how Emma is looking off in the distance. Such a pensive expression, I wonder what she was looking@..

I second my mom's opinion that I can hardly wait till June. The pool just isn't the same without Emma to push me around on my mat.
