Here Come the Visitors

We had our first set of visitors this past week. After they left I was thinking about all of the things we did and how much fun we had . . . apparently it was 173 photos worth of fun. It was so fun to have two aunts come to play. So, I think this post will be a lot of photos and a little dialog. Here are some of the things we did while Becca and Jessica were here.

We went to the Richmond Metro Zoo. It was a warm and beautiful day, and the zoo was really fun.



The most memorable event was when Sarah stuck her head through the fence to get closer to the donkey (she is definitely our animal lover). She enjoyed petting him for a few minutes until he turned his face to her. She tired to pull her head back out, but it got stuck. It was a little too close for her comfort, but she eventually recovered and was petting the goats a few minutes later.


We had a picnic on Brown Island (which is an island in the James River). We had some Frisbee competitions and rolled down the hills.


Of course the aunts met the kids for lunch at school. They even got to go see the kids during school at the book fair.


We always count on Jessica taking us somewhere that we have never been before. She talked us into walking around the campus of the University of Richmond (Go Spiders!). Which turned out to be really fun and very beautiful.


We went bowling. Which is always fun. We all got to bowl with the bumpers up, it really improved all of our scores. (I totally stomped everyone)


Jessica and I got to go watch one of Ben's church basketball games. Becca stayed home with the sleeping kids (thanks again Becca). It was fun to watch and cheer for them.


We went to Cary Town and ate some yummy and messy hamburgers. We did a little window shopping, which Sarah loved (she cried when we left). She kept telling us she wanted to "go into one more store."


We took a day off (we call it "family field trip") and headed up to D.C. We got up EARLY in order to get tickets to the BEP (Bureau of Engraving and Printing) where they print money. It was absolutely fascinating to everyone. I highly recommend it, except for the fact that you have to pick up tickets in person between about 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. or they are sold out.


We also visited the Jefferson Memorial (which was a first for us). There is always so much to do in D.C.

We also got to do a lot of just "hanging out" while Jessica and Becca were here. Aunts are always such good sports. Here they are playing musical cushions.


Even though we had another set of visitors arriving less than 48 hours after taking Jessica and Becca to the airport, there were major tears on the way home from the airport. We miss them already. Thanks ladies!!!
