Fishin' for Minnows

The other day we took our poles down and went fishing at The Grove Pond. A lot of our fishing consists of people reeling and casting and wanting to switch the bait they are using. I grabbed a pole with a small fly on it and was reeling it in slowly. I noticed that when I got the fly close to the dock there were little minnows that were nipping at it. The minnows have been a problem before for the kids (at the distance they cast), because when we use worms the minnows just nibble the worms right off of our larger hooks. Well the fly had a very small hook on it and I decided to just dangle it right by the edge of the dock . . . 30 seconds later I had hooked a minnow.

It is not the "king of the pond" - although Barbie, my sister, did catch him from the dock - I figured it was a perfect way to ensure all of the kids caught a fish. So dangle we did.

Toward the end I got Michael catching one on video.

It was a great evening of fishing!!!

You my friend are a problem solver. Way to get all the kids to catch something. My first(and last I think) was about four inches long. Size only matters if you are so hunger you have resorted to eating fish.

How are you guys? I just came by your name on my friends blog and took a peek. Looks like you have been busy with your yard. It looks awesome by the way. How do you know the Fredricks?
