Camping Trip

It is still strange to me that we only live 20 minutes from a place called Pocahontas State Park. Sometimes in my little world of school, snacks, hide and seek, and trips to the pool I forget that I live in Virginia. But, there are really some amazing things around us here. So last Wednesday we decided to take a spur-of-the-moment camping trip with some of our friends. We called around and borrowed a tent, and went and bought some other essential camping stuff (a lantern, hot dog roasting sticks, and marshmallows) from Walmart . . . and off we went the next day. We got there and set up camp. Michael decided to bring his own tent, and that he would sleep in it all by himself all night. I didn't want to discourage him, but I had my doubts.

That night we roasted smores over the fire and told stories and the kids even performed some pretty cool dances for us.

After all the campfire fun the kids fell asleep quickly. And Michael did sleep in his own tent all night long!! The next morning we had hot chocolate with breakfast and just hung out for a while.

Within the State Park they have a water park, and you get free passes when you pay for your campsite. So, at 10am we headed over to play in the water.

We left around 3pm. I wished that we could have done another day, it was so much fun. We have decided that we need to get our own tent so that we can do this more often. But then again . . . Michael's tent does seem pretty roomy . . . maybe we could all fit.

Looks like a blast! Sars still doesn't look like a morning person but looks like food and hot chocolate sorta does the trick.
